Relic Tour: Oakland

The relics of newly canonized St. Damien of Molokai will be available for veneration at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Alamdea on Friday evening.

At 7:30 p.m. Bishop Cordileone will receive the relics and lead the faithful in prayer. A rare and beautiful opportunity for all of us.

If you can make it, I highly recommend doing so.

St. Damien ...

... pray for us.

Proof

In our day and age, it can be refreshing to take a break from all of the relativism, and bring sound reasoning into the discussion of the existence of God.

This little boy does a much better job at debating, than most adults I have ever spoken with. Then again, he is Albert Einstein.

09.26.09 The Book of Love

We're continuing our OLOP|YA meetings with this week's topic: Why are Catholic and Protestant Bibles different?

To get an idea of what we're speaking about on Saturday, here is the sneak peek for this week:

Each week, we'll be looking at one teaching of the Catholic Church and breaking it down. We'll give a basic catechesis (teaching), points for evangelization and apologetics, and draw from the Cathechism of the Catholic Church, Sacred Scripture, the Saints, the Church Fathers, and current events.

This week, our topic is: The Deuterocanonicals.

It's time to understand the "why" and the "what" of what we Catholics believe.

Confession: Slides

We've spoken about Truth, Tradition, and Authority. We also mentioned that Christ left us the Keys (of the Kingdom). Now, it's time to learn how they're used ...

Here is the Presentation from our last meeting:

Not Nothing

If one thing is certain, it is that our lives should not be lived for nothing. What is your purpose? What is your legacy? These men know, and I am grateful for them.

Bloodmoney

The Passion of the Christ. Bella. Some movies are just movies. Other movies change lives. Bloodmoney will be the latter.

Watch the preview, below, and then sign up to show your support here.

"We had a plan that sold abortion. It was called 'sex education'. We would break down their natural modesty, separate them from their parents and values, and become the sex experts in their lives so they would turn to us. We would give them a low dose birth control pill they would get pregnant on, or a defective condom.

Our goal was three to five abortions from every girl between the ages of 13 and 18."

If you are a Catholic living in this culture of death, you need to see this film.

Easy

It can be easy to forget that for some things, time is running out.

Consequences of actions can be forgotten.

For some, however, the consequence of an action, a choice, or an inaction, are simply unforgettable. What, and who, will you stand for?
